AI search optimization

Get found when people ask AI.

Your customers are starting to ask ChatGPT, Google's AI, Perplexity, and Gemini for recommendations. AI search optimization is the work of making sure those systems describe your business accurately and recommend it when someone asks. It's also called answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO). I start with a free report that shows you exactly what AI sees on your site today.

Why does AI search visibility matter now?

More people are asking an AI assistant instead of scrolling a results page. If those tools don't understand your business, you're invisible at the exact moment someone is ready to choose. And an AI reads your website differently than a person does: raw code, quotable passages, machine-readable facts, and search indexes you may never have looked at.

I know how this works because I ran the program on my own business first, before offering it to anyone. That is where I found problems I would not have guessed at, including my own site missing from a search index that feeds several AI tools. It is also where I decided what I would not do: quote you an improvement percentage from somebody else's clients.

So the program is the one I use myself. A free report shows you where you stand. A full audit produces the evidence and the plan. The build makes your true information easy for AI to find and quote. And monthly measurement shows you, honestly, whether it's moving. No promised percentages, no borrowed statistics. Your own numbers, measured the same way every month.

What the work covers

  • A free AI Visibility Report from just your web address
  • A full audit: how each AI system sees you, what's blocking you, and a prioritized plan
  • The build: site fixes, structured data, AI-readable pages, and search index setup
  • A measured baseline before anything changes, so progress is real
  • A monthly scorecard: mention rate, citation rate, movement, and what I'm adjusting

What it costs

How much does AI search optimization cost?

The audit comes first, so you know exactly where you stand and what you actually need before you invest in anything bigger. If the audit says your foundation needs work first, I say so.

Questions

Questions about AI search optimization

What is AI search optimization?

AI search optimization is the work of making sure AI systems describe your business accurately and recommend it when a customer asks. It covers the tools people actually use to decide: ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Gemini. You'll also hear it called answer engine optimization (AEO) or generative engine optimization (GEO). The work itself is practical. An AI reads the raw code of your site, breaks your pages into passages, and quotes the passages that answer a question. So I make your true information easy to find and easy to quote: clean structure, direct answers, structured data that names your services and service area, and a guide file that tells AI systems where your key pages live. I deliver this as an audit first, then the fixes, then monthly measurement, so you always know where you stand.

How is this different from regular SEO?

Regular SEO helps you rank on a page of blue links. AI search optimization helps you show up inside the answer an AI assistant gives, which is increasingly where people stop looking. The two overlap, and good SEO still matters, but AI systems weigh different things. They read your site's raw code before any browser effects run, so content hidden behind heavy page builders never gets seen. They quote self-contained passages, so a page that answers the question in its first two sentences beats a page that buries it. They check structured data to confirm what you sell and where you operate. And they lean on search indexes you may not be watching. When I ran this on my own site I found it was missing from Bing's index altogether, which had been quietly hiding me from ChatGPT search and Copilot. A business can rank well on Google and still be invisible in AI answers.

What does AI search optimization cost?

It starts free. The AI Visibility Report costs nothing and shows you what AI systems can and cannot see on your site today. From there, the full audit is $500, and it produces the complete evidence and a prioritized plan. If you move ahead with the build within 60 days, that $500 is credited toward it. The build runs $1,500 to $2,500 depending on how many pages your site needs, and it covers the fixes, the structured data, the AI-readable layer, search index setup, and a measured baseline. Ongoing monitoring is $150 to $250 per month for the monthly scorecard and upkeep. The order matters to me: the audit comes first so you know exactly where you stand and what you actually need before you invest in anything bigger. If the audit says your foundation needs work first, I say so.

What is the free AI Visibility Report?

Give me your website address and I'll show you what AI systems actually see. The report is about two pages, in plain language. You get a readiness score, the top three things costing you AI visibility, and what fixing them would look like. Behind it, I check the raw code AI crawlers read before any browser effects run, whether your site allows or blocks each major AI crawler, whether your content is structured in passages an AI can quote, whether your business information is machine-readable, and whether you're present in the search indexes AI tools draw from. There's no pitch in it and no obligation. If you'd like to talk through what it means for your business, I do a free 30-minute discovery call, and if you'd rather just keep the report, that's fine too.

How do you know whether it's working?

I measure it, before and after, with a method I show you. Before any work deploys, I run a set of real customer questions through ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, several times each, because AI answers vary from run to run. I record whether your business is mentioned, whether your site is cited as a source, and how accurately you're described. That becomes your baseline. Every month after, I run the same set again and send a plain scorecard: your mention rate, your citation rate, movement since baseline, what I changed, and what I'm adjusting next. The methodology is printed on every report. I do not promise visibility percentages or timelines, because no honest firm controls how AI systems crawl and refresh. What I promise is honest measurement of your own numbers.

Have you done this for your own business?

Yes, first, before offering it to anyone else. In July 2026 I ran the full program on humankindintelligence.ai: the audit, the fixes it turned up, and a measured baseline so I can track my own movement honestly. Two things came out of it. I learned the work from the inside, including problems I would not have predicted, like finding my own site missing from a search index that feeds several AI tools. And I decided what I would not do: I will not show you an average improvement figure borrowed from other people's clients, and I will not promise you a percentage. When I have my own before and after that is worth publishing, I will publish it, including the parts that took longer than I expected. Until then the honest proof I can offer is the method itself, and your own baseline measured before I touch anything.

Which AI engines does this cover?

I work across the major AI systems people actually use to choose businesses: ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Gemini, plus the search indexes that feed them, including Bing, which supplies ChatGPT search and Microsoft Copilot. The same foundations help everywhere: clear information, clean structure, machine-readable facts, and content written the way customers ask questions. Those foundations also carry over to voice assistants. Each platform behaves differently, though. A business can appear often in ChatGPT answers and never in Perplexity, because each system indexes and cites differently, and the sources one platform trusts barely register on another. I saw it in my own baseline: my strongest and weakest platforms were separated by a wide gap on the same questions. That's why my measurement runs per platform rather than as one blended number, and why the monthly scorecard shows where you're strong and where the next month's work should aim.

Who is AI search optimization for?

It's for any business that wants to be found when customers ask AI for a recommendation: professional service firms like attorneys, CPAs, and financial planners, home builders, realtors, and local businesses whose customers now research with an AI assistant instead of a search page. It fits established businesses with a real website and true information on it. One honest caveat: if your site's information is out of date or your operations have outgrown what it says, making AI read it faster would only amplify the problem. In that case I'll tell you plainly, and the right first step is usually getting the foundation fixed before promoting it. Most people think they have an AI problem. Often they have a process problem first. That applies here too.
